LG is Launching E-Paper Displays
The European market is going to get a special kind of e-reader very soon, as reported by engadget this is one with a flexible screen that is similar to paper: "The malleable plastic display sports a resolution of 1024 x 768 and can
bend at an angle of up to 40 degrees. At just 0.7 millimeters thick,
it's about one-third thinner than similarly-specked glass displays, and
weighs in at 14 grams -- about half the weight of its glassy
competition."
We are one step closer to monitors and phones that are rolled out into sheets.
Check out engadget to read LGs press release on the product.

The Amazing Spider-Man Viral Marketing Campaign Is Far From Amazing
Annoyingly, this next video is part of a viral marketing campaign from the makers of the upcoming "Amazing Spider-Man" movie. It isn't really clear what the creators were thinking... maybe next time they can get some tips from John Carter's marketing team? Watching this video will not make you excited for the upcoming movie, in fact it's a strong deterrent, so watch at your own risk.

More News on the TMNT Controversy: Turtles' Co-Creator Weighs In
Peter Laird is co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (along with Kevin Eastman). He has his own blog and on it he has decided to weigh in on Michael Bay's announcement that in the upcoming movie, the Turtles will be from an alien race and not Earth turtles that mutated. This is what Peter Laird posted on his blog about it:
Very interesting. He isn't saying that he supports Michael Bay, only that we will have to wait and see what develops with this alien race before we all collectively flip out.
Source: PeterLairdsTMNTblog
I have had several requests from TMNT fans during this past week to comment on the idea of the Turtles being "reimagined" as aliens for the upcoming TMNT movie to be produced by Michael Bay. A few people -- who don't seem to understand that I am no longer in control of the property -- want me to stop this, somehow. Obviously, I can't do that, even if I wanted to.
But I would actually encourage TMNT fans to swallow the "chill pill" Mr. Bay recently suggested they take, and wait and see what might come out of this seemingly ill-conceived plan. It's possible that with enough truly creative brainpower applied to this idea, it might actually work. I'm not saying it's probable, or even somewhat likely… but it IS possible.
However, as I have pondered this further, I have realized that in one way it IS truly a genius notion. Let me explain…
Over the years, I have made no secret of my distaste for what I consider to be the weak, facile, creatively bankrupt idea which can be summed up like this:
"If FOUR Ninja Turtles are good, then FIVE (or more) Ninja Turtles MUST be better!"
It was in large part this brain-dead notion that led to the creation of the execrable "Venus de Milo" character in the blessedly short-lived live action TV series "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation". And I can't tell you how many times we got mail in the early years of the Turtles from people who thought it was simply an amazing idea to do a "fifth Turtle", and how many times those same people suggested that this fifth Turtle be named "Picasso". And many times, the brilliant idea to explain this extra Turtle was that, instead of there being just four pet shop turtles in that glass bowl in the origin story, there were really FIVE.
Sigh.
I'll admit -- I have played with the idea of more Turtles myself, a few times. There was the character of "Kirby", the "fifth Turtle" that Kevin Eastman and I came up with for one of the several movie ideas which never came to fruition. And I created the "Super Turtles" in Volume 4 of the TMNT comics published by Mirage… and they eventually appeared in one episode of the 4Kids animated TMNT TV series.
But…
… in both those instances, I was careful to make these Turtles not just MORE of the same, i.e. just extra TMNT. In both of the above cases, the extra Turtles were from other dimensions… and the Super Turtles, especially, were VERY different from the Ninja Turtles. I don't remember all the details of the work we did on that "Kirby the Fifth Turtle" thing, but I DO remember being adamant that if we were going to agree to the idea of a "fifth Turtle", it would have to be something other than the harebrained "there was an extra Turtle in the bowl, etc." idea.
Is that too fine a line? Yeah, maybe… but to my way of thinking, anyway, it is a CLEAR line.
Anyway, to get back to the "TMNT are aliens" thing -- the reason I say it could be a "genius" idea is that -- for the first time -- someone has come up with a way to have as many freakin' Turtles as they want. I mean, if the TMNT are actually members of an alien race, there could be a whole PLANET of them!
Joy. -- PL

Brazilian Batman Fights Crime In The Real World
Ever think about dressing up as a vigilante and fighting crime in your spare time? This next guy took those dreams a step further, he didn't just think about it, he decided to take action in his neighborhood.
This particular Batman is a retired police officer in a small city in Brazil. Although he doesn't actually beat up criminals, he is part of the neighborhood watch which is backed by the local police station. His new job is to show local kids who may one day turn to a life of crime, that positive role models exist. Police officers are trying to become associated with batman because in Brazil, many people, have a negative image of the police, which is why it's important for superheroes like Batman to teach kids the difference between the good guys and the bad guys.

Chris Brown American 'Superhero'
Allow us to explain: the person that created this video is not trying to glorify Chris Brown or what he did in any way, in fact the creators were trying to comment on the public's love and appreciation for Chris Brown despite the fact that he beat up Rihanna and continues to show little remorse about it.
From youtube: "Some of the dialogue in this video is taken directly from Chris' twitter
post after his Grammy win, as well as the Chris Brown / Rihanna police
report".
And in case you forgot exactly what Chris Brown did, this is from the police report regarding Chris Brown attacking Rihanna, reprinted by MTV.com:
"Robyn F. (Rihanna) turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.'s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle. Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, 'I'm going to beat the sh-- out of you when we get home! You wait and see!' "You can read the rest of the police report here.

The exact reason for mass stranding in dolphins and marine mammals often remain a mystery to the scientific community. Beached marine mammals have been reported for centuries, however in recent years these occurrences have become more frequent.
