Kristen Bell Really Loves Sloths

What do Kristen Bell and sloths have to do with Spaceships and Spice? Absolutely nothing. Unless of course you consider that sloths might actually be aliens visiting us from another planet... think about it, it makes sense: They look like aliens and they are super slow like they are not used to being on our planet, or something... OK it's a little far fetched but you never know.

Kristen Bell LOVES sloths. BIG TIME. She freaks out over them.

WATCH: The Muppets Fire Back At Fox News

When the most recent Muppet movie came out, Fox News accused the movie of forcing "a dangerous Liberal agenda on kids" mainly because the villain of the movie was an oil tycoon. At a recent press conference, Kermit and Miss Piggy had this to say about the incident:

WATCH: Fan-Made Star Wars Movie

In 2009 a Star Wars project of immense proportions began: Star Wars: Uncut movie where fans were asked to recreate 15 second clips of Star Wars scenes. These clips were then edited together by an amazing and dedicated group of people to create an entire movie made entirely from these homemade clip. It is now available for all to see:

This is probably one of the greatest things I have seen so far this year. You can really get a sense of the amount of work that went into this project. Hopefully viewers are not intimidated by the length of this gem, because it really is worth watching.

Check out their website starwarsuncut.com for more scenes.

Things to watch out for:

1:09:42: The Big Lebowski.
1:20:02: Star Trek action figures AND E.T. as Chewbacca.
1:57:31: Cameo of Barf from Spaceballs.

Dogs Barking the Star Wars Theme

Pop Quiz: Who can name all the characters that appear in this commercial?

Watch the Sun Kill A Comet!

On July 5th 2011, a comet passed very close to the sun and in return our sun completely obliterated it! This is extremely exciting because NASA scientists have managed to capture this interaction on video and have shared the events of July 5th for all of the world to see:

From the NASA website:
On the evening of Tuesday, July 5, a comet flew into the sun. Such comets are not unusual, and they're called "sungrazers" since they come so close to the star that it is believed they evaporate and disappear. However, no one has actually seen the end of that journey, since the comets are best seen in cameras from SOHO (SOlar and Heliospheric Observatory) that block out the bright disk of the sun itself.

But this was different. For the first time ever, SDO (Solar Dynamics Observatory) captured a 20-minute movie of the comet streaking directly in front of the sun. It's not immediately obvious, but if you watch the movie closely, you'll see a line of light appear in the right and move across to the left.

Anti-Ninja Turtle Propaganda

Children's cartoons and toys are sometimes heavily scrutinized by parental groups. For example a few years back, an ultra Christian group got together to make a video discussing what kids products were negative influences for Christian children. What evilness are we talking about? A lot of the time this video focuses on how bad the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were.

The funny thing is, the guys in this video don't really have a lot of arguments to support their cause and they don't really succeed in arguing a case for why the Turtles are bad role models so they sound really paranoid and a little crazy (maybe those parts were edited out?). The best part? The guy at the end of the video who says he is going to get "rid" of the evil Michael Jackson chocolate bar before any kids get their hands on it... awkward, and also, he probably just ate it.

Dark Knight Rises Meets the Lion King Trailer

Taking two different movies and combining them together to make one trailer is all the rage nowadays, especially with Disney movies (for example when the Sin City trailer was mixed with various Disney clips). When a mash-up is done well it can be very entertaining, especially if said mash-up is from two very popular and loved franchises that many people have seen and/or are looking forward to seeing. This video clip is a perfect example of when these mash-up trailers are done well: The Lion King Rises: a parody of the new Dark Knight trailer.

Nerd News This Week

The CW show Supernatural wins 2 People' Choice Awards for "Favorite Network drama" and "Favorite sci-fi/fantasy show". Congratulations to the cast and crew of Supernatural! Fans of the show were upset because the show was considered to be snubbed, despite their wins: The People's Choice Awards did not invite the two main actors (Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki) or any of the other cast or crew to the event and their wins were not announced on the live broadcast of the People's Choice Awards. This of course is extremely upsetting considering that in order to win an award, fans must cast their votes, so obviously the show has a large fan base that would have liked to see some Supernatural representation. Ackles and Padalecki were however, asked to prerecord an acceptance speech to be shown at the event. You can watch that here.

James Cameron announced that although he originally claimed "Avatar 2" would be in production by now and have a release date for 2014, the release date might very well be pushed back until 2016. Full story here. Fans wonder what the big deal is, since the world is going to end in 2012.

The eagerly anticipated live action Star Wars TV show is one step closer to existence: Producer Rick McCallum announced the show will have the title "Star Wars: Underworld" and will take place in the years after episode III. No news yet if there will be any vampires involved. Click here to watch the interview with Rick McCallum.

A never before seen 12 minute Hobbit movie was created in 1966 and was finally released this week, much to the delight of Tolkien fans. Click here to watch the video.

A long forgotten 12 minute animated movie based on J.R.R. Tolkien's novel The Hobbit has surfaced over the internet recently, much to the delight of  Tolkien fans.  The animated short was created in 1966 in order to fulfill contractual obligations for a full length animated feature depicting the entire story of Tolkien's beloved story before the rights that Gene Deitch and William L Snyder had acquired. Official Zelda Timeline

For a long time, many video game fans of the popular Zelda franchise have seriously pondered how (and if?) all the Zelda games fit together in the Zelda universe. Many hardcore fans have even attempted to interpret the games themselves in order to create their own timelines. Nintendo has finally released an official timeline with the Legend of Zelda art book Hyrule Historia. For the moment it has only been released in Japan but online user Glitterberri was kind enough to translate it for everyone to see:

Of course you can never make everyone happy. And while the release of the official Zelda timeline makes a lot of people very happy, some who are extremely versed in all things Zelda, find problems with the new timeline. The timeline was released a few weeks ago, and some people have found ways to tweak it to suit their ideas of the Zeldaverse. More tweaked timelines are sure to be seen in the next few weeks.

Here is the original Japanese version:

Burgers That Feature the Star Wars Theme

Hey guess what? Star Wars is coming back to theaters in 3D! Of course Star Wars fans probably knew that already.... BUT what you might not have known is that a fast food restaurant in France called "Quick" has made themed burgers to cash in honor this momentous occasion.

The Darth Vader burger doesn't look that good, it looks a tad overcooked...
